Try These Protective Styles This Year

Updated: Jul 27

We all know and love them, but sometimes, they can get a bit boring. Protective hairstyles are a go-to for many of us melanated women, so finding some that are effortless and beautiful are important! We usually go for box braids, but this year, let's try something else.

Crochet Braids

Crochet braids have been popping up more and more recently but there are still so many people that haven't given them a try or even heard of them. They are really nice because there are so many different styles you can try.

To install crochet braids, you will cornbraid your hair your scalp. Then with a crochet hook, you will crochet the hair into your braids. You can do this with curly hair, straight, and even pre-braided or twisted hair! It is a great way to have your natural hair up and protected, but still be able to rock curls!

You also have the option of installing natural hair that you can wash, straighten, or wear curly! So many choices to choose from!

Passion Twists

Passion twists are one of those hairstyles that most everyone loves. They are so easy, last a long time, and most importantly, are beautiful! Have you tried them before?

Passion twists are a great alternative to braids. What many love about them is that they are lightweight and versatile. You can choose to install them with crochet braids, or twist them throughout your natural hair.

Remember though, even though these are protective styles you still want to take care of it and your natural hair. Be sure to wash your scalp weekly and don’t leave the styles in longer than recommended!

So! Now that you have these options to choose from, which are you going to go with?
